A county located in Florida with a population of about 160,000 residents, Charlotte County was established in 1921. It was named for the Charlotte Harbor, which was named as a tribute to Queen Charlotte Sophia in 1775.

The largest city found in Charlotte County is Punta Gorda. The county is also home to a new proposed solar-powered city called Babcock Ranch. Several other communities are a part of the county, as well, including Englewood, Grove City, Solana, Port Charlotte, Charlotte Harbor, and Rotonda.
